I have migrated from iReport 3.0.0 to iReport 3.7.1 version of software.

XML file which I use includes namespace information. I tried an Xpath query with no namespace info. This yields zero document pages as if there was no data, whereas the same template is working fine with iReport 3.0.0 version of software.

Am using the default configuration for the JasperReport properties as below.
net.sf.jasperreports.query.executer.factory.xPath=net.sf.jasperreports.engine.query.JRXPathQueryExecuterFactory
net.sf.jasperreports.query.executer.factory.XPath=net.sf.jasperreports.engine.query.JRXPathQueryExecuterFactory

Also I have added the below property to detect the namespaces.
net.sf.jasperreports.xml.detect.namespaces=true

Do I need to change anything related to JasperReport properties or is any class or jar files related to namespace missing? Please let me know what do I need to do make the current template in iReport 3.0.0 to work with iReport 3.7.1 version.

I'm using NetBeans IDE 7.0.I installed ireport pluggings to the netbeans. afer restarting the netbeans there was a warning saying "all the pluggings not install correctly".My all the projects that are open in the netbeans has been crashed.

I just saw that the iReport plugin version 3.6.0 has been released since yesterday.

But here the latest version is 3.5.2.

Anyone knows where can I find the latest version, I have a problem, since I have installed the IReport plugin version 3.5.2 in Netbeans 6.7.1, I can't open a jsf or jsp page in Design Mode, crash when opens and close the Design Window. Anyone khows something about how can I resolve this problem. Anyone knows if with 3.6.0 version it's resolved the problem.

Im a little upset about the comments about the malfunctioning of it, I had the idea that everyone who uses netbeans has a little knowledge about fixing this kind of problems I mean, this is an open source GPL project IF you find a bug report it OR fix it yourself dont complain about it nor troll the threat like this.

Any idea how to solve the conflict with visual jsf in nb 6.5.1?

1) install the iReport Plugin
2) open a project using swingx (for example the JxHeader) and then open the dialog using swingx in the design-mode
3) click at the JxHeader and have a look at the properties of the header. You will see errors and errors.

after deinstalling the iReport-Plugin (and change nothing else!) all works fine again!

It is really annoying when Netbeans offers a plugin like iReport and it does not work. Many users complain that we cannot open the jsp designer when we install the iReport plugin. It is interesting when I deactivate an and active the both plugins the jsp designer works correct. But when I restart Netbeans again the same bug. I use 6.5 with jdk1.6.0_10. I should be really possible to fix this bug!!

After installing the ireport plugin, the visual jsf designer stopped working - either never comes back or throws missing body errors. After uninstalling ireport, visual jsf is working again.

To solve the problem just download the last version of the plugin .nbm (iReport-nb-0.9.2 2008-07-07)

I seem to be unable to access custom JRDataSource and JRDataSourceProvider implementations residing in my project (and thus project classpath) from the Add Report DataSources dialog. I appear to have to manually add the compiled classes path to the iReport plugin classpath via the options dialog. As such there is a workaround so it is not impeding my progress. Is this a known limitation or might I have configured something inappropriately?

Also, I too am experiencing the Log exception dialog that is mitigated by removing the xalan.jar from the modules library folder. I am running NB 6.1 with Sun JDK 1.6 update 6 on Ubuntu 8.04.

Despite these (and other minor issues) I am able to use the plugin effectively within NB to design my reports. Good job!

I receive the following error message when starting up NetBeans:

An incompatible Xalan versino has been detected on teh IDE's classpath. The IDE cannot start.

The IDE then closes. This is on a MAC with JDK 1.5.

I've installed this plugin in netbeans 6.1 and it's all right!!!!

First of all, thank you for this great piece of software.
I've just found a bug while compiling one of my reports using the netbeans plugin. This report contains a couple of static and dynamic textfields with text aligned to the right.
The problem is that when loaded in the visual editor, the 'textAlignment="Right"' attribute in the XML turn to a 'textAlignment=null' so that the report is no longer compilable.

I would like to suggest to move the main menu items Designer and Data somewhere else in the menu. Maybe Tools -> iReport -> ... The Window menu items IRConsole and Outline should be move below Task List or better also inside an iReport submenu.
Is it possible to add the classpath of the project with the report file to the iRepor classpath automatically? It would be nice to have access to the JavaBeans of the project.
And last I would like to suggest to add a compile report task to the build.xml to autmatically compile the report files when building the project (see posting below).

the current version of the plugin has some problems with NB 6.1. All the problems have been already fixed in the SVN repository. I'll consider to release a new version later the next week just to fix these pronlems with NB 6.1.

Using the JRAntCompileTask is the the best solution.
Someone should write a tutorial about how to do it (if one is not yet available) since not all the people would be able to do this kind changes to the build.xml.
This could be some kind of improvement of ireport too, I mean adding a task to the build.xml to compile the project's reports and place the jaspers in the build directory.

It appears to be only an issue with Mac, as I was able to open these windows on my install on Windows (via Parallels Desktop). I'd love to use this on my Mac! Can someone please help?

Well, it's really hard to say what could be the cause, since the jars shipped with the previous version of iReport are pretty much the same, and the the new functionalities are more or less designed and written like the ones already available. And by the way there is any kind of relationship between the GUI designer and iReport...
Can you see a stacktrace or something in the messages.log of NetBeans?

i tried to make my own JRDataSource. But by trying to view (run) the report i always got classnotfound error (check the classpath). but the class exists and is in the netbeans classpath?!?

ReportElements section currently doesn't appear in the Palette for JSP and JSPF pages.
Is there any way to drug charts to JSPF? If not, is there any other way to do it?

It has been reproduced on Mac OS X. To work around it, please remove this file:

$HOME/.netbeans/6.0/modules/ext/xalan.jar

Now NetBeans starts normally. I know that Giulio is working to fix it. In any case, guys, remember that when you try a new plugin:

1. you can use an alternate location for the NetBeans preferences by specifying --userdir PATH - in this way, any new plugin will be installed there, and won't touch your default configuration.

2. alternatively, just make a backup of $HOME/.netbeans and restore it after you've finished the try.
