Introduction

This window provides a tasks-management functionality. Developers can access, organize, categorize and manipulate issues coming out of various Issue Trackers like Jira or Bugzilla. It also cooperates with the current NetBeans build-in Issue-tracking support.

Quick start
1. Add repository using toolbar button 'Add Repository' on repositories node in the Task Dashboard window
2. Specify a query using toolbar button 'Search in Repository' on created repository node and save it. Query appears in the Dashboard
3. (optional) Create a category using toolbar button 'Create Category' on categories node and you can categorize tasks from queries in your own way e.g. by your own priority.
4. (optional) Go to Tools/Options/Miscellaneous/Task Dashboard and edit settings of the automatic updates and the number of displayed tasks per query/category.

Please do not hesitate to file eventual bugs. You can do it on NetBeans bugzilla ConnectedDeveloper/Task Dashboard

Hi

Basically I would like to create a connector to an alternative to BugZilla--> which uses my custom Issue Tracker.

Yours sincerely,
Arvind.

I'm not sure what you would like to create, a connector or a task management window?

How to create custom plugin for Tasks interface in Netbeans

Hello,

I wish to create a plugin for a custom Project/Task management solution.

Kindly let me know the following--

(1) How to obtain source code for the task interface
(2) How to obtain code for the Bugzilla Netbeans IDE connector (so that I can modify it to enable use of the custom task management solution).
(3) Any recommendations/best practices you may have to go about creating such a custom connector.

Yours sincerely,
Arvind.

Re: Can't activate or set inprogress a task with a JIRA repo

Hi,

these features you are talking about are not implemented yet. The reason they are in context menus is to let you know they should be implemented in next release.

Sorry for this misunderstanding.

Can't activate or set inprogress a task with a JIRA repo

Hi,
I'm using this plugin with a JIRA repository, it connects ok and synchronize issues list correctly, I can open a task but I can't "activate" the task, neither set it as "in progress". Those options are disabled from contextual menu, also "Schedule" and "Set Notification" options are disabled.
I'm using JIRA with greenhopper plugin.

Any idea what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Jira issues are not listed

As I wrote before:

one more action is needed. You need to specify a query using search in repository toolbar button on the NB Repository node. You specify the query and save it and it will appear in the dashboard.

Let me know if that solves your problem.

Jira issues are not listed

I've added a Jira issue tracker config, I've Jira plugin correctly instaled and is working ok. From the Task Dashboard I can search issues, and this work fine, but the issues are not listed under repository tree in the Taks Dashboard panel.
I'm using Jira with GreenHopper plugin, so the issue type is "story", just to mention, I don't know if that could be a problem or not.

Details added

You are welcome. I've added a quick start section to the details so it should be clear for other users.

If anything else would cross your mind please let me know, any feedback is welcomed.

Thanks

Re: OK, it works :)

Thx for your help. I had not noticed the "save this query" link.

Perhaps it would be useful to clarify this point in the description of the plugin: I thought at first that the plugin discovered itself related queries to the user :p

Thx.

Re:Cannot show my NetBeans Bugzilla issues

Hi,

one more action is needed. You need to specify a query using search in repository toolbar button on the NB Repository node. You specify the query and save it and it will appear in the dashboard.

About TODOs - this plugin does not replace the Action Items window (also known as Tasks window - it has been renamed in 7.2) and right now, you can't create a task from a todo etc. We know about this possible enhancement but we need to wait on progress on Local Task functionality planned to future releases.

So just to summarize it - main entry points are queries which you specify on various repositories (Bugzilla or JIRA). Categories come to place when you want to somehow manually organize your tasks from queries

Cannot show my NetBeans Bugzilla issues

Hi,

I've registered my NetBeans Bugzilla account : connection is validated. I can searh for issues, it's ok.
Problem : some (opened) issues are assigned to my account (ent38@netbeans.org) but I don't see them in the Task Dashboard. Am I missing something ?
