Ok, so I have Groovy activated. and when I try to install Griffon i get the following error:
The plugin Groovy Support is requested in implementation version 201112071828. Where do i get that plugin? Why doesn't it work with the Groovy plugin I already have?

Getting Error when installing this plugin
Some plugins require plugin Groovy Support to be installed.
The plugin Groovy Support is requested in implementation version 201112071828. The following plugins are affected: groovy.griffon groovy.griffonproject Netbeans build : NetBeans IDE 7.1.1 (Build 201203012225) Griffon : griffon-1.3.0 How to correct this error?

Project Creation
Using Griffon 1.10 with this plugin hangs on project creation for projects after the first because Griffon is waiting on a response about whether or not to overwrite the 'swing-1.1.0' plugin.

Note: The sources of this plugin or on java.net, here:
http://java.net/projects/nbgriffonsupport The sources on Kenai should not be used. That project should be removed soon and should be considered dead code.

Updated for NetBeans IDE 7.1
When you now click the Download button, you should get a ZIP file ending in "GriffonPluginBeta4.zip". That's the ZIP containing 3 NBMs, for using Griffon in NetBeans IDE 7.1.

Again dependency problem with Groovy Support on org-netbeans-modules-groovy-griffonproject.nbm
Hi Geertjan,
i am using your plugin on Netbeans 7.0.1 and it is quiet a joy ! Today i'v downloaded Netbeans 7.0.1 for a different OS and the dependency problem from the comments below came up. I did a peek into your sources at http://java.net/projects/nbgriffonsupport . The info.xml file in the Info directory contains the requirement "org.netbeans.modules.groovy.support = 201107282000". The current Netbeans download has Groovy and Grails Build 201111061500. I tried to change this by hand with an editor, but Netbeans blames that modified info.xml file (maybe nbm is a signed archive). Could you please include that new build version to the requirements of your plugin ? Best regards, Jens

NetBeans IDE 7.0.1 Now Supported: "GriffonPluginBeta3.zip"
When you now click the Download button, you should get a ZIP file ending in "GriffonPluginBeta3.zip". It contains 3 NBM files, install them via Tools|Plugins|Downloads in NetBeans IDE. Now your support for Griffon in NetBeans IDE 7.0.1 should be the same as before, except you also have a new Matisse GUI template on the View folder in your Griffon project.
If you encounter any kind of problem with this plugin, please don't get upset, don't get confused, don't throw your hands in the air. It's not the end of the world. It's just a bug. Leave a comment here and it will be fixed. Or just download the sources and fix/change anything you like: http://java.net/projects/nbgriffonsupport

RTFM: The plugin is currently for 7.0 only
I don't really understand the problem. You can see, if you read the top left part of this page, that this plugin is for NetBeans IDE 7.0. I haven't updated it to 7.0.1 yet, hope to do so this week.

Dependency problems
Same here. It seems to be a dependency problem after the groovy plugin upgrade (not directly because of Netbeans 7.0.1). Do those two Griffon plugins really need a strict checking of the Groovy one?
Thanks in advance for any tip

Dependency problems with Netbeans 7.0.1
I'm using NetBeans IDE 7.0.1 (Build 201107282000)
Java: 1.6.0_26; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 20.1-b02 System: Windows XP version 5.1 running on x86; Cp1252; en_US (nb) I've downloaded the Beta 2 release of the griffon plugin. I add the two plugin files: "org-netbeans-modules-groovy-griffon.nbm" "org-netbeans-modules-groovy-griffonproject.nbm" then push the install 2 plugins button and I get: Some plugins require plugin Groovy Support to be installed. The plugin Groovy Support is requested in implementation version 201104080000. Plugin Install Issues Win7
I'm trying to install the plugin on Netbeans 7.0.1 build 201107282000 the following error is what I get when trying to install:
Some plugins require plugin Groovy Support to be installed. The plugin Groovy Support is requested in implementation version 201104080000. The following plugins are affected: groovy.griffon groovy.griffonproject I see that this error has come up before on older versions of Netbeans. Should this work on 7.0.1? I've installed the plugin at work and had no problems but it was probably an earlier build of Netbeans.

GriffonPluginBeta2.zip should fix the dependency problem.
GriffonPluginBeta2.zip should fix the dependency problem, I uploaded it, so when you click the Download button you should end up with a file ending in "GriffonPluginBeta2.zip". Please try it and let me know, via this plugin page. I.e., you should be able to install both NBMs without a problem.

should not be "simply ignored"; dialog is better :)
I think this problem is not OS specific.
I have the full version of NetBeans 7.0 and I am running on OS X Java 1.6.24 but it seems it affects Windows and Linux as well. I attempted to install the plugins from this file: 1303641126_GriffonPluginBeta1.zip

Problem installing plugin Ubuntu 10.10
geertjan, I have put some effort to install the environment on ubuntu desktop and same happens also in Ubuntu 10.10
"org-netbeans-modules-groovy-griffon.nbm" installed ok. "org-netbeans-modules-groovy-griffonproject.nbm" failed with the error message from the last post. Development environment is almost the same: fresh installation of NB IDE 7.0 (All), java version "1.6.0_20" and griffon-0.9.2 (works from the command line). I have followed above instructions (1-4).

Problem installing plugin on NB IDE 7.0, WinXP
geertjan, thanks for the fast reply.
I have tried again, this time on completely new virtual machine (Win XP SP3), using fresh installation of NB IDE 7.0 (All), java version "1.6.0_25" and griffon-0.9.2 (works from the command line). I have followed above instructions (1-4). "org-netbeans-modules-groovy-griffon.nbm" installed ok. "org-netbeans-modules-groovy-griffonproject.nbm" failed. And still I have the same two issues: 1) Some plugins require plugin Java Common Project API to be installed. The plugin Java Common Project API is requested in implementation version 201104101501. The following plugin is affected: groovy.griffonproject 2) Some plugins require plugin Editor Options to be installed. The plugin Editor Options is requested in implementation version 201104101501. The following plugin is affected: groovy.griffonproject

GriffonPluginBeta1.zip Works fine on Win XP
That's very strange. I am also using WinXP and NetBeans IDE 7.0 and the two NBMs install without any problem at all. Are you sure you have clicked the Download button above and that you have downloaded and unzipped a file ending with "GriffonPluginBeta1.zip"? That's the ZIP you should unzip and install the content. In 7.0.
Please do so again and make sure you have followed the instructions on this page.

Alpha8.4 solves the dependency problems.
Hi all,
Thanks for your patience. Click the Download button again and you will get a ZIP file that has "Alpha8.4.zip" as the suffix. Unzip it and you will have two NBM files. Install them in 6.9 Beta (or a build after that, but I have only tested it on Ubuntu, Windows, and Mac in 6.9 Beta) and you will at least not have the dependency problems reported here. Please leave a comment here to report on success/failure of installation and further work with this plugin. Gj

NetBeans IDE 6.9 Beta
Hi sbuttgereit, Are you sure you have installed a distro of NetBeans IDE that includes Groovy support? Doesn't seem like it. You need the Groovy editor, otherwise you cannot use the Griffon plugin. Right now I am working on Griffon support for NetBeans IDE 6.9 Beta, so, yes, this plugin is actively being developed right now. Later today the NetBeans IDE 6.9 Beta release of the Griffon plugin will be announced, so maybe you should use NetBeans IDE 6.9 Beta instead of NetBeans IDE 6.8 -- since I, for one, will not be using 6.8 to fix bugs anymore, only 6.9 Beta or later.

Editor Options
Hi--
I'm attempting to try out this plugin with the Ubuntu (10.04) package for NetBeans 6.8 (NetBeans IDE 6.8 (Build 100326-unknown-revn)) and I'm getting the 'Editor Options' version error. The plugin Editor Options is requested in implementation version 200912041610. The following plugin is affected: groovy.griffonproject It looks like this is a somewhat common error, though its unclear if there's something specific users such as myself have to do or if this is, as one poster suggested, a version reference problem that only the maintainer can address. Also, I see that there's not been much activity in recent months from either the maintainer or the community here or on Kenai. Is this project dead or just a somewhat lower on the priority list for everyone? Being new (today) to Griffon and this plug-in, I can say they look like great ideas, but if interest is low probably better I ask than find out the hard way! :-) Thanks, Steve

Correction
Sorry, meant "Added GriffonPlugin-Alpha4.zip", not "Added GriffonPlugin-Alpha3.zip".
Posted by geertjan on Aug 05, 2009
GriffonPlugin-Alpha4.zip
Added GriffonPlugin-Alpha3.zip, which now supports 6.7.1 (instead of 6.7!) and Java App Store via "Packaging" command.
Posted by geertjan on Aug 05, 2009
GriffonPlugin-Alpha3.zip
Uploaded a new ZIP, "GriffonPlugin-Alpha3.zip", accessible if you click "Download" here, which will give you a new Griffon plugin, providing copy/rename/move support, as well as "target" (or "staging") folder shown in the Projects window for easy access.

Make sure to install "Java" distro of NetBeans, not "Java SE"
Plus, make sure you've installed the "Java" distribution of NetBeans IDE 6.7, and NOT the "Java SE" distribution. The former includes the Groovy editor, the latter does NOT. (The reason being that the latter must be kept as small as possible, hence Groovy is excluded.)
Posted by geertjan on Jul 29, 2009
Create Grails app first, to install the Groovy modules, then install Griffon NBMs.
Maybe first create a Grails application, which will install those related modules. Then install the two Griffon NBMs after that. That should do the trick. If this works for you (let me know) I will add this step to the instructions above.

Install Errors
Netbeans is complaining about the Groovy Support and Editor Options plugins missiong, an that it is requesting version 200906241340. I got a fresh version of netbeans into a clean environment, and I still get the error before and after I install grails.
Am I missing a step?

Upgrade from Pre-Alpha to Alpha
All the comments above have been incorporated into the Alpha version of the plugin, which is now available when you click the "Download" button. You will get a ZIP file ending in "_GriffonPlugin_Alpha2.zip". That contains the two NBMs described above. Comments welcome.

griffon-app folder = Griffon application in NetBeans IDE
By the way, if you are trying to 'import' a Griffon application, you're probably doing something wrong. Simply open it. NetBeans IDE understands that a folder structure that contains 'griffon-app' folder is a Griffon application.
Posted by geertjan on Jun 28, 2009
yes
yes, that's how I created the plugin -- I didn't put src folder in Projects window. I will change that in the next release. And all Griffon applications are recognized as Griffon applications... if you follow the instructions listed above. I.e., use NetBeans IDE 6.7 Beta. And the Griffon application DOES NOT HAVE a Project Properties dialog, so trying to open it is meaningless. I will remove that menu item in the next release.
Posted by geertjan on Jun 28, 2009
Source Folder
I'm testing out the plugin on Windows XP using NetBeans 6.7 RC3.
After creating a new project, the src/main folder isn't visible anywhere in the Projects tab. I copied some groovy and Java files into this folder outside of NetBeans and they were visible in the Files tab but still weren't visible under Projects. When I selected the new project and went "File > Project Properties", no window appeared but a blinking red circle alerted me to an exception. It says "Unexpected Exception", "A java. lang.IlegalArgumentException has occurred." When I click details I get: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Must provide at least one category at org.netbeans.modules.project.uiapi.CategoryModel.(CategoryModel.java:67) at org.netbeans.spi.project.ui.support.ProjectCustomizer.createCustomizerPane(ProjectCustomizer.java:249) at org.netbeans.spi.project.ui.support.ProjectCustomizer.createCustomizerDialog(ProjectCustomizer.java:156) at org.netbeans.spi.project.ui.support.ProjectCustomizer.createCustomizerDialog(ProjectCustomizer.java:236) at org.netbeans.modules.groovy.griffonproject.ui.customizer.GrailsProjectCustomizerProvider.showCustomizer(GrailsProjectCustomizerProvider.java:76) at org.netbeans.modules.groovy.griffonproject.ui.customizer.GrailsProjectCustomizerProvider.showCustomizer(GrailsProjectCustomizerProvider.java:68) at org.netbeans.modules.project.ui.actions.CustomizeProject.actionPerformed(CustomizeProject.java:149) ... I had also tried to import an existing Griffon application into NetBeans which worked alright but it isn't being recognized as a Griffon app. Is there any way to tell NetBeans that an existing project is for Griffon or do I have to create the app in NetBeans for it to be recognized?
