Introduction

The X3D-Edit 3.2 Authoring Tool for Extensible 3D (X3D) Graphics supports the creation, checking, display and publication of X3D scenes. It is written in open-source Java and XML using the Netbeans platform. It is suitable both as a standalone application and as a plugin module for the Netbeans integrated development environment (IDE).

X3D-Edit features include direct editing of X3D scenes using the XML (.x3d) encoding, embedded visualization of scenes using the Xj3D viewer, quality assurance (QA) tests including XML validation using X3D DTDs, schemas and schematron, drag-and-drop palette for X3D nodes, popup panels for node editing, encryption and digital-signature authentication using XML Security standards, and extensive help resources.

Planned features include X3D compressed binary encoding support, Efficient XML Interchange (EXI) compression, and ongoing tool additions for X3D scene authoring support. Feedback is welcome.

X3D-Edit 3.2 is stable and supports most X3D components. X3D-Edit is also used as part of a textbook and online course X3D for Web Authors and has been used to create hundreds of X3D example scenes.

de-expand

Great job! I really enjoy it, and makes my work much more efficient. One more suggestion. If I can de-expand caller/callee, it will be even more convenient (This might be difficult though..).

Anyway, thanks a lot!
